There is nothing more motivating than being in a meeting and watching the client have an ah-ha moment. That moment when they get excited, and you can see the weight of uncertainty lift right off their shoulder, and their level of trust in you rises with every new opportunity we discover. The momentum generated from those meetings makes the collaboration between my team and me all the more rewarding because we have the chance to secure another client's financial future.
I was born in Sacramento while my father was serving in the United States Air Force. My family has a long line of military service members. After father completed his service, we moved to Ohio, where I grew up the eldest of five boys. It was made abundantly clear to my brothers and me that we serve our family and our community with commitment, integrity, and selflessness.
For me growing up, there was no shortage of life lessons learned. From a young age, my dad and my grandfather would take me to work with them, which developed an entrepreneurial spirit in me. By observing them in their roles as business owners and with their guidance and leadership, they made sure I understood the importance of responsibility and leading by example. In 1999 I began my 17-year career at FedEx and quickly promoted into Operations Manager. Working for a Fortune 500 company, I had the opportunity to train, learn, and grow from some of the best and brightest. In 2015, I transitioned into a financial services career. All of my past experiences remind me how important it is to put others' interests above my own.
When I am not advising clients or helping them plan for retirement, I enjoy playing softball and golf, and I am an avid sports fan. I enjoy watching people compete on many different levels, especially when it involves my daughter, Lakyn, and her many activities.
I am grateful to be a small business owner based in Alameda. I am also proud to say I have chosen to live and raise Lakyn in Alameda because it's small-town feel and what this community has to offer.
